Jafar Williams, the assistant wide receivers coach for Vanderbilt football, is leaving to be the wide receivers coach at Georgia Tech, according to a report from 247Sports.

Williams previously worked at Temple, Virginia Tech and Maryland. He is a Philadelphia native.

The Commodores have so far retained most of their staff, including offensive coordinator Tim Beck and defensive coordinator Steve Gregory.

The two staffers who have moved on, quarterbacks coach Garrett Altman and Williams, both left for promotions. Altman left to become the offensive coordinator at Arkansas State.

Williams isn't the first assistant to go from Vanderbilt to Georgia Tech in recent years. Norval McKenzie left his position as the Commodores' running backs coach for the same job with the Yellow Jackets after the 2022 season. McKenzie is now at Virginia Tech with former Vanderbilt coach James Franklin.
