As reported by WAVY, Capt. Bianca C. Wilkerson, 37, of Norfolk, Virginia, died on Sept. 18 in what the Army described as a “non-combat related incident” while deployed overseas. The cause of her death remains under investigation, and an autopsy is pending.
Following her death, Wilkerson was posthumously promoted to the rank of major, according to the Army.
The Virginia native served with distinction throughout her military career and was recognized for multiple achievements during her service.
