The good vibes surrounding the Virginia Tech Hokies and head coach James Franklin continued on Friday when 2027 defensive lineman Brock Frisby went public with his commitment.
Frisby, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound prospect from Severn, Maryland, plays at Archbishop Spalding High School and is the 19th-ranked player in Maryland’s 2027 class, per 247Sports. Archbishop Spalding is the alma mater of former Virginia Tech cornerback Mansoor Delane, who played last season at LSU and is expected to be a top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Frisby visited Blacksburg earlier this year, meeting with Franklin, defensive coordinator Brent Pry and new defensive line coach Sean Spencer. He recently returned to campus and set up an official visit for June. However, Frisby didn’t need to wait until the summer to make his decision. He already knew.
Frisby picked the Hokies over offers from Nebraska, Pitt, Kentucky, Rutgers and West Virginia, among others.
Frisby’s commitment is likely to pick up ahead of his final season, so this was an important win for Franklin and Spencer. Frisby projects to play defensive tackle at the next level, and he’s the second commitment to Virginia Tech’s 2027 class, joining EDGE Alexander Taylor. Taylor is also from Maryland, as he plays at the famed St. Frances Academy.
It’s good to see the Hokies continuing to add players in the trenches. High school recruiting for offensive and defensive linemen struggled before Franklin’s arrival in November. He quickly made it a point to add plenty of depth and talent to both lines.
Welcome home, Brock.
