AUBURN — Vontrell King-Willams is staying on the Plains, as Auburn football announced Tuesday, Dec. 9, that head coach Alex Golesh will keep the defensive line coach on his first staff, as well as announcing five other non-coaching hires.
King-Williams joined Auburn in 2023 as an analyst on Hugh Freeze‘s staff, and was elevated to his current role in 2024. He was part of Freeze’s Liberty program from 2020-21, and had spent time at Eastern Michigan and UTSA.
That’s now six hires made official for Golesh’s first group of assistants. On Monday, the program officially announced the retention of defensive coordinator and linebackers coach DJ Durkin, and the additions of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joel Gordon, offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick and defensive assistant Brad Wilson.
Here’s a look at Golesh’s staff so far, including the five other hires announced Tuesday.
Who else is joining Alex Golesh’s Auburn football staff?
The hires of Executive Director of Recruiting Harding Harper III, Director of Football Administration John-Allen Stone, Director of Football Performance George Courides, Director of Applied Science Terrence Kennell and Associate Director of Football Performance Frank Failace were all made official Tuesday.
Courides and Harper were among those long-reported to be joining Golesh at Auburn after serving on his South Florida staff.
Where does Alex Golesh’s Auburn football staff currently stand?
Golesh now has six assistant coaches in place, though the program has yet to officially announce the hire of Kodi Burns. Golesh said at his Auburn introduction that Burns would, at least, be his associate head coach. Golesh also has six off-field staffers formalized.
There have been a trio of reported assistant coach hires as well, in Coleman Hutzler, Demarcus Van Dyke and Jacob Bronowski. Van Dyke is the only South Florida transplant. He was Golesh’s cornerbacks coach in 2025.
Hutzler was most recently Mississippi State’s defense coordinator and will reportedly coach edge rushers. Bronowski, who was Pitt’s special teams coordinator and tight ends coach this season, will presumably coach at least one of those spots.
