Vote for the Gaylord Herald Times 2025 Football Player of the Year

It's been a fun football season around Otsego County, a season that continues into the postseason for both Gaylord and St. Mary. Now, however, let's take a look back at what was an eventful regular season.

Players from GHS, GSM and Johannesburg-Lewiston stood out all season, turning in impressive rushing, passing, receiving and defensive performances week by week. Some names kept coming up, and those names are the ones who make up the nominees for the 2025 Gaylord Herald Times Football Player of the Year.

Take a look back at the best individual players from this season, then help us decide who should be named POY.

Kaven Cole, Gaylord

Senior Kaven Cole finished the regular season with the third-most rushing yards a GHS back has had in a single season, finishing with 1,290 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Kelsen Snyder, Gaylord

Taking over as QB1, Snyder threw for 1,003 yards and 7 TDs on a 71% completion percentage.

Jaron Bensinger, Gaylord

The Blue Devils leading tackler had 60.5 tackles through eight games along with 298 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Grayson Glazier, Gaylord

A do-it-all type player for the Blue Devils, Glazier finished the regular season with 38 receptions and 309 receiving yards and made impacts on defense and special teams all season.

Nathan O'Connell, St. Mary

Only played in seven of St. Mary's nine regular season games but still totaled 597 rushing yards, 842 passing yards and 21 total touchdowns (12 rushing, 9 passing).

Logan Greenier, St. Mary

Greenier finished the regular season with 930 yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground, then burst through the 1,000 yard mark in the first game of playoffs with a 389 yard, 7 touchdown performance in round one vs. Mio.

Joey Smokevitch, Johannesburg-Lewiston

The junior captain was a leader on offense and defense in 2025, rushing for 1,182 yards and 8 TDS as well as 31 solo tackles and 49 assisted tackles.
