Vote for the Savannah Morning News Athlete of the Week in an open poll

The five Savannah football teams in the state football playoffs last weekend all won their games.

Bethesda Academy beat Pee Dee Academy to win its second SCISA state title in the last three years.

In GHSA action, Jenkins beat Peach County to advance to the Class 3A state quarterfinals.

Benedictine beat Cass to reach the Class 4A quarterfinals, while Calvary Day and Savannah Christian also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class A-3A Private School playoffs.

There were some memorable individual performances in those games, as well as in basketball and flag football last week.

This is a chance for readers to weigh in and select the Savannah Morning News Athlete of the Week in an open poll with no restrictions on the voting. The poll will close on Monday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m.

Here are this week's candidates.

Jordan Cheever, Bethesda

The senior rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns, including scoring runs of 54 and 58 yards, on nine carries as Bethesda rolled to a win over Pee Dee Academy in the SCISA Class 2A state championship game.

Dominique Johnson Jr., Jenkins

The senior ran back a punt for an 83-yard touchdown, had two receptions for 62 yards, including a 51-yard scoring catch, rushed for 39 yards on five carries and had six tackles on defense in the Warriors playoff win over Peach County.

James Mobley IV, Calvary Day

The junior was 12 of 13 passing for 190 yards and five touchdowns in a playoff win over King's Ridge Christian.

Athen Hudspeth, Savannah Christian

The senior rushed for 160 yards and three scores on 12 carries, intercepted two passes and recorded five tackles in a playoff win over Christian Heritage.

Ralo Wesley, Bethesda

The senior caught two passes, for touchdowns of 67 and 24 yards, in the championship win over Pee Dee Academy. He had 35 catches for 1,084 yards and 23 touchdowns on the season.

Kailyn Chapman, South Effingham

The junior guard had 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in a win over Bryan County for the Mustangs, who entered the week with a record of 5-1.

Stephen Cannon, Benedictine

The senior rushed for a career-high 102 yards on 14 carries, including scoring runs of 39 and five yards, and threw for 91 yards in a playoff win over Cass.

Emerson Lewis, Calvary Day

The junior ran back a kickoff 91 yards for a score, blocked a field goal and had three tackles in the playoff win over King's Ridge.

Chris Perry, Bradwell

The senior scored 22 points with five rebounds and three steals in a win over St. Andrew's.

John Gross, Savannah Christian

The senior had 13 tackles, with three for losses, two sacks and an interception in the playoff win over Christian Heritage.

Calvin Wallace, Jenkins

The senior broke up four passes, and picked one off that he returned 58 yards. Wallace also had seven tackles in the playoff win over Peach County.

Kam Cody, Benedictine

The Clemson-bound senior had 10 tackles, with two for losses, in the playoff win over Cass.

Ryan Scott, Jenkins

The senior came on strong in the second half as he rushed for 88 of his 113 yards after intermission, including a 22-yard scoring run with 1:39 left that sealed the deal in a playoff win over Peach County.

Jordan Turner, Bethesda

The sophomore quarterback was 4 of 5 passing for 132 yards and three touchdowns in the championship win over Pee Dee Academy.

Jayden Houston, Benedictine

The senior linebacker had nine tackles, a sack and an interception in the Cadets playoff win over Cass.

Blaise Thomas, Savannah Christian

The senior quarterback rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries and threw for 55 yards in the playoff win over Christian Heritage.

Thomas Williams, Johnson

The junior had 17 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Effingham County.

Zacaria Grady, Johnson

The senior had 20 points in a win over Effingham County.

Page Stewart, Calvary Day flag football

The sophomore quarterback was 23 of 33 passing for 215 yards and five scores in a win over Islands.

Zy Frazier, Savannah High

The senior had 17 points, six assists and three steals in a win over Beach.
