Vote now for Section V's Football Athlete of the Week for Nov. 10-16 presented by Faber Builders

It’s time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.

Your vote will determine who will be the Faber Builders Football Sports Athlete of the Week for November 10-16. The players’ credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Thursday.

The nominees are chosen by our sports reporters. If you would like to call attention to an athlete’s performance to be considered for the nomination, please email sports@democratandchronicle.com. All athletes who play on Section V football teams are eligible to be nominated.

Now, let’s meet the candidates.

Kalman Dolgos

Avon senior totaled three touchdowns, two on offense plus a pick-six, as the Riverhawks defeated Batavia Notre Dame/Byron-Bergen in the Class D section championship on Friday. Dolgos was named the game’s most valuable player.

Ray Garcia

Monroe junior finished with 135 rushing yards and two touchdowns on nine attempts, and caught three passes for 32 yards in the Red Jackets’ Class B final win over Honeoye Falls-Lima.

Jake Maurer

Penfield junior had an interception in the end zone and blocked a punt, as the Patriots defeated Pittsford in the Class AA final on Saturday to claim the program’s first-ever section championship.

Ryder Reichert

Alexander/Pembroke running back had 161 yards and a score in the team’s Class C section title win over Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry.

Zack Rossignol

Led Brighton to a 24-14 win over East/WOIS in the Class A playoff with 138 yards and a touchdown on 30 rush attempts.

AJ Theodorakakos

Penfield senior linebacker/running back scored the go-ahead touchdown on a four-yard run, forced a key fumble that was recovered by a teammate and made 13 tackles, including three behind the line of scrimmage, during the team’s 21-10 win over Pittsford in the Section V Class AA final.
