Vote on top offensive linemen in high school football preseason

Offensive linemen often do the thankless jobs in football.

They're the ones who get their uniforms dirty, paving the way for the offense to march down the field.

As The Enquirer continues its high school football season previews, let's take a look at the top offensive linemen in the city.

Make sure to vote for the top offensive lineman in the city in the poll at the bottom of the story. Readers can vote once per hour. The poll will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24.

Connor Abercrombie, Campbell County

Under first-year head coach Rick Honaker, Abercrombie will be one of a few seniors charged with setting the tone for the offense this season. He has shown his potential in both the running game and passing game, and has the skills to pancake his opponent or execute a swing block at the line of scrimmage. He holds offers from Centre College, Wabash, Wilmington and McPherson.

Lual Aleu, Winton Woods

The University of Missouri commit is a relentless worker on the right side of the Warriors' line. When they run the ball behind him, it results in a healthy gain more often than not. He is also elite at protecting the quarterback. At 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, Aleu is ranked as the 41st player in Ohio.

Tate Bartlett, Wyoming

At center, he plays one of the most important, yet often unheralded, positions on the field. His role will be just as crucial this year as the Cowboys look to return to the top of the Cincinnati Hills League. A second-team all-league member as a junior, he has incredible off-the-ball speed, even with his added duties, and he sees the field well enough to yell out blocking assignments for his teammates on the line.

Teagan Haretuku, Anderson

The Raptors averaged 42.7 points per game in 2025. Most people might attribute that to the skill players at quarterback, running back and receiver, but the offensive line is the unit that helped Anderson find the end zone as often as it did. Haretuku, a 6-foot-2, 280-pound lineman, was a first-team All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference selection as a junior and one of two impact seniors in the trenches this fall.

Kal-El Johnson, Moeller

Johnson has become one of the best offensive linemen in the state during his time at Moeller. He enters the season at 6-foot-8, 320 pounds. Ranked the 14th best player in Ohio by 247Sports and committed to Georgia Tech, he is one of at least three current Crusader offensive linemen who will play at the DI level in college. The strength of this Moeller team, and hopes of returning to the Division I regional final or state tournament, begin with Johnson and the offensive line.

Jonny Lind, Covington Catholic

Lind spent his junior season blocking for one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks (Cash Harney) and top running backs (Dylan Gaiser) in Class 4A. His leadership led to the Colonels producing 2,116 passing yards and 2,774 rushing yards and advancing to the third round of the postseason. He committed to Army after also holding offers from Navy, Colgate, Eastern Kentucky and Lehigh.

Ryan Massie-Cable, Taylor

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound senior is a force to be reckoned with in the trenches. In 2025, he recorded 32 tackles and 1.5 sacks while also helping the Yellow Jackets' offense pass for 1,607 yards and run for 2,054 yards. Taylor should once again compete in the top half of the Cincinnati Hills League. He is ranked as the 43rd best player in Ohio, according to 247Sports, and is committed to the University of Cincinnati.

Reilly Newman, Lakota West

Newman is committed to the University of Iowa as an offensive lineman, but at 6-foot-7 and 264 pounds, he can fill multiple roles for Lakota West. He recorded 48 tackles and two fumble recoveries on defense and is agile enough to block multiple positions on offense. He also has long arms to swat passes and block kicks. Ranked as the 18th best player in Ohio, he was named to the Greater Miami Conference first team and All-Ohio second team.

Patrick O'Brien, Moeller

O'Brien is right behind Johnson at 6-foot-6, 290 pounds. The Purdue University commit is rated as the 33rd best player in Ohio. Just like with Johnson, you don't want to get in O'Brien's way. He can assert his will at the line of scrimmage or get downfield to block skill players on a long run play.

Kris Scott, Taft

The Senators had big names at every position during a historic run in 2025 that saw them shut out seven straight opponents. Many of those players now hold multiple high-major college offers, including Scott. Entering his junior year, he holds 10 offers including Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. He is ranked as the 14th overall player in Ohio in the class of 2028.
