For a two-week period earlier in December, a total of 12 gold balls were awarded to Oklahoma high school football programs.

Several performers helped do their part to ensure their respective teams were able to capture championship glory.

Here’s a look at those top performers from the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association’s championship games. Also, readers can now vote on who they think should be the Oklahoma Player of the Week. Vote as many times as you like until 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, Jan. 4, and the winner will be announced next week.

Top performances from the Oklahoma high school football state championship games

(This list is in alphabetical order)

Luke Debusk, Jones

Debusk was the Longhorns’ top tackler with 10 total stops, along with one quarterback pressure and a recovered fumble in a 20-14 win against Washington for the Class 2A-I championship.

Noah Goodwin, Rejoice Christian

Goodwin had 129 all-purpose yards in the Eagles’ 34-13 win against Tonkawa in the Class A-I title game. That included 92 yards rushing with two TDs. On defense, he had four total tackles, and was in on half a sack.

Landen Griffith, Talihina

A junior quarterback, Griffith completed 13-of-21 passes for 208 yards and two TDs while adding 58 yards rushing on 24 carries and two more scores in the Golden Tigers’ 26-20 win against Hominy for the Class A-II championship. He also forced a fumble and recovered another on defense.

Acyn Hansen, Jones

The Longhorns’ quarterback was 21-of-30 passing for 183 yards while adding 116 yards rushing on 26 carries with a TD as Jones edged Washington, 20-14, for the Class 2A-I title.

Brett Kaste, Tulsa Lincoln Christian

Kaste caught three passes for 81 yards, including a 46-yard Hail Mary to end the first half, as the Bulldogs eventually repeated as Class 3A champions after downing Sulphur, 24-21.

Carson Kirby, Bixby

In his final appearance as the Spartans’ quarterback, Kirby completed 19-of-28 passes for 236 yards and a TD while adding a rushing TD in the Spartans’ 31-17 win against Owasso for the Class 6A-I title, Bixby’s fourth straight and its 10th title over the past 11 seasons.

Wick Kohmescher, Tuttle

A junior tight end/linebacker, Kohmescher caught a 20-yard TD pass with 42 seconds left to lift the Tigers to a come-from-behind 23-20 win against Elgin in the Class 4A championship game. He also made four total tackles on the defensive side.

Braelin Lewis, Dewar

Lewis rushed for 152 yards on 23 carries and had a TD while catching three passes for 38 yards in the Dragons’ 14-6 win against Laverne for the B-I title. He also had 10 total tackles, two for loss, and a forced fumble on defense.

Delijah Matthews, Midwest City Carl Albert

Matthews rushed for 104 yards on 28 carries and scored four TDs as the Titans won their fourth straight Class 5A championship after a 48-7 win against Bishop McGuinness.

Cooper McCord, Adair

The Warriors’ quarterback was 14-of-22 passing for 229 yards and three TDs while adding 74 yards rushing on 24 carries and two more scores in Adair’s 34-29 win against Vian in the Class 2A-II championship game.

Jayson Moll, Bixby

Moll, a former Owasso running back, had a game-clinching 36-yard TD run as he finished with 169 yards on 22 carries in the Spartans’ Class 6A-I title-game win against the Rams.

Cord Nolan, Bixby

The Spartans’ standout linebacker – a Texas Tech signee – finished with 9 total tackles, 7 of those solo stops, along with two tackles for loss, a sack, three quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. He also caught a 38-yard pass for the Spartans’ first TD in their Class 6A-I title-game win.

Brock O’Dell, Sand Springs

O’Dell capped an impressive postseason run with 97 yards rushing on 11 carries and three TDs as the Sandites defeated Choctaw, 32-27, in the Class 6A-II title game, the program’s first championship since 1966. He was also the Sandites’ leading tackler with 13 total stops.

ZiZi Okwufulueze, Rejoice Christian

Okwufulueze, a senior receiver who has signed with Oklahoma, caught three passes for 85 yards and two TDs in the Eagles’ 34-13 win against Tonkawa in the Class A-I title game. He also picked off a pass on defense.

Carter Ricke, Tulsa Lincoln Christian

The Bulldogs’ quarterback completed 18-of-23 passes for 217 yards and a TD while adding 35 yards rushing. He also punted three times for an average of 35.7 yards with a long of 40 yards, as well as landing one of his kicks inside Sulphur’s 20-yard line in the Class 3A title-game win.

Shawn Rounsaville, Tuttle

Rounsaville rushed for 135 yards on 34 carries with a TD in the Tigers’ Class 4A title-game win.

Lebron Royal, Midwest City Carl Albert

Royal was the Titans’ leading tackler with eight total stops. He also had three tackles for loss and a sack in the Titans’ Class 5A title-game win.

Wyatt Tillery, Seiling

Tillery completed 7-of-10 passes for 164 yards and three TDs and also rushed for 230 yards on 23 carries and five scores in the Wildcats’ 60-12 win against Weleetka for the Class B-II championship.

Noah Torrez, Ryan

Torrez rushed for 397 yards on 36 carries and scored seven TDs in the Cowboys’ 60-30 win against Medford for the Class C title. He also passed for 21 yards and punted three times, including a long of 54 yards, along with picking off a pass, recovering a fumble and registering nine total tackles on defense.

Easton Webb, Sand Springs

In his final game as the Sandites’ quarterback, the Texas State-bound signal-caller was 14-of-20 passing for 191 yards and two TDs.
