On Saturday evening, the USC football team defeated Washington 25-21 at the Coliseum. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in Big Ten play.
Following the game, Washington head coach Jeff Fisch praised USC, while also adding that he was proud of his own team’s fight.
“For the most part, I'd like to give credit to Coach [Lincoln] Riley and USC,” Fisch said. “They battled. They played really hard. They ran the ball a lot, and I thought that when they needed to hit some passes, they hit some passes. It was one of those games, 21-10 in the third quarter. We had an opportunity to put it away, and then they made a big, long conversion, and then after that we had to go back and we can't turn the ball over and give them seven points. So altogether, I think that our players played their hearts out. I thought it was a great competition, and that's what college football is: Go compete, and that's the message.”
After taking down Washington, the Trojans will now hit the road and head to Penn State for the Nittany Lions’ White Out game next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. Pacific time/7:30 p.m. Eastern time on NBC.
