The Washington Huskies earned a commitment from one of their top targets in the 2027 class on Tuesday afternoon when four-star defensive tackle Tevita Nonu announced his pledge to Jedd Fisch's coaching staff.
Fresh off an official visit with the UCLA Bruins, the 6-foot-4, 270-pound product of Seattle's O'Dea High School, who is ranked as the No. 245 overall prospect and No. 26 defensive lineman in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite, chose the Huskies over 16 other offers, with Arizona, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Oregon rounding out his top five.

As the Huskies continue to retool their defensive line to endure the rigors of the Big Ten, Nonu is the ideal prospect to pair with four-star commit Jon Ioane. The local product excels at shooting gaps thanks to an explosive first step, which allows him to get into the backfield with ease.
"Has a projectable 6-foot-3.5, 275-pound frame and looks lean with plenty of room to pack on good weight," former 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins wrote in his evaluation.
"Plays some as an edge rusher but predominantly lines up as a traditional defensive tackle, and that’s where we like him at the next level as well. Does a nice job splitting double teams and getting in the backfield. Shows excellent quickness, moves well laterally, is a very fluid athlete for his size. Has plenty of length, closes well on the football, and shows the burst and natural athleticism to chase down plays from behind."
In defensive coordinator Ryan Walters' scheme, which featured a lot of five-man defensive lines during spring practice, Ioane's ability to take on blocks should allow Nonu to see several one-on-one matchups with interior offensive linemen, where he should be able to show off his athleticism.
Nonu is the fourth in-state prospect to join Fisch's 2027 class, which now ranks No. 11 in the country, alongside four-star wide receiver Braylon Pope, three-star cornerback Maurice Williams, and three-star tight end Zach Albrigh.
