As the Washington Huskies turn their attention to the 2028 class at running back, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff has its eyes on one of the most productive players in California.

Three-star James Curoso, a product of Cardinal Newman High School in Northern California, is ranked as the No. 473 overall prospect and No. 33 running back in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite, and has quickly risen up Washington's board since position coach Scottie Graham extended an offer to him in May.

The 5-foot-10, 199-pound prospect has racked up 11 offers, with Arizona, California, Oregon, USC, and Utah all in the mix for his services, and the Huskies have been able to establish themselves as strong early contenders in his recruitment after hosting him for an unofficial visit for the Apple Cup against Washington State.

During his sophomore season, Curoso starred on both sides of the ball for Carindal Newman. On offense, he took 272 carries for 1,507 yards and 27 touchdowns, and added 28 catches for 329 yards and 5 scores. At linebacker, he tallied 110 tackles, 18 for loss, 6 sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble.

On film, Curoso shows off impressive agility and vision, weaving his way through small slivers in the offensive line before accelerating to top gear, displaying good long speed in the open field. He also proves to be extremely elusive in short areas, with a powerful jump cut that helps him force missed tackles.

As Fisch and Graham begin to take a closer look at the 2028 class, Curoso could quickly emerge as one of Washington's top targets alongside four-star Noel Washington and three-star Corey Hinton Jr.
