After adding one of the nation’s top offensive tackles in the 2026 recruiting class in Kodi Greene, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies have put themselves in strong standing with another in 2027.
Five-star Oluwasemilore Olubobola, a product of St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 20 overall recruit and No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite, took a trip across the country to Seattle for Washington’s Junior Day festivities in early March and came away impressed. He quickly stated his intentions to return for another unofficial visit during spring practice, and Fisch’s coaching staff is pushing hard to set up an official visit with the 6-foot-6, 283-pound prospect.
As offensive line coach Michael Switzer and the Huskies continue to make a push for his services among his 42 offers, with Florida, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, and Texas A&M also among the interested parties, Washington has done an impressive job emerging as one of the top contenders for his services, as 247Sports’ Tom Loy reported on Thursday.
“I think the fact that Washington got him out there for Junior Day, is planning to return this summer for an official visit, that’d be a huge win,” 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins added in a report following four-star defensive tackle Jon Ioane’s commitment on Thursday. “If they can add Olu and pair him up with Kodi Greene…there’s your bookend tackles, and that sets you up. It makes life easier from a roster construction standpoint.”
With right tackle Drew Azzopardi set to graduate following the 2026 season, the Huskies would have an opening along the offensive line for Olubobola to step in right away, but they could also allow Freshman All-American John Mills, who started two games at right tackle in 2025, to kick out to the position after his second season at left guard. As they continue to sell early playing time to some of the nation’s top prospects, Fisch and Switzer would most likely try to find a way to get Olubobola on the field quickly, no matter what position he plays.
“A lean, mean, and green offensive tackle with a monster ceiling given the combination of his length and twitch,” Ivins wrote in his evaluation of the five-star prospect. “Shuffles feet to wall off run lanes or extend pockets…Quick to recover on the move and re-engage with assignments…Should be viewed as an athletic corner-protector that is going to have a chance to man the left side of the line on Saturdays and potentially Sundays if he keeps progressing.”
