Washington QB Among 10 Huskies on East-West Bowl Watch List

The Washington Huskies are well represented on the Shriners Children’s East-West Bowl 1000 watch list, with ten players listed going into the 2026 season.
Junior quarterback Demond Williams Jr., senior right tackle Drew Azzopardi, senior safety Alex McLaughlin, junior cornerback Emmanuel Karnley, senior edge Jacob Lane, junior defensive lineman Ellineus Davis, senior linebacker Xe'ree Alexander, senior center Landen Hatchett and senior punter Hunter Green comprised the group receiving recognition from Jedd Fisch's squad.
The Huskies featured the same number of watch list honorees as Arizona, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, SMU, Stanford, Utah and Virginia Tech. Texas Tech led the way with 27 players receiving recognition, one of seven schools to see 20 or more players along with Indiana (22), LSU (21), Miami (21), Ole Miss (20), Texas (20), and Texas A&M (20).
The annual Shriners Children's East-West Shrine Bowl will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on February 4, 2027.
Of the three juniors on the list, Karnley is the most likely to play in next year's game, with Davis right behind, as both are fourth-year players after this coming season.
Green, a transfer from San Diego State and son of former UW specialist Phil Green, comes to Montlake fresh off second-team All-Mountain West Conference honors as one of the best punters in the country. He finished sixth in FBS and second in the MWC, averaging 46.97 yards per punt over 63 attempts as a junior for the Aztecs.
The 6-foot-2, 204-pound McLaughlin returns as the Huskies' leading tackler from last season with 94 total tackles, along with three tackles for loss, six pass breakups and a pair of interceptions in his first year at UW. He was named UW's Defensive Most Valuable Player at the team's postseason awards banquet following the season, while earning honorable mention All-Big Ten from both the coaches and the media.
Other potential candidates eligible that didn't make the list include junior kicker Tyler Robles, junior defensive lineman DeSean Watts and senior edge rushers Isaiah Ward and Russell Davis II.
