SEATTLE — The Washington Huskies looked outclassed in the first half of a game against the No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday at Husky Stadium.

The Huskies weren't able to muster more than one first drive on any of their drives in the first half until the second-to-last possession of the first two quarters.

Before the penultimate drive began, the Hawkeyes had almost double the amount of points (27) as UW had total yards (14). Washington trailed 27-0 before the drive began.

The Huskies were able to move the ball on the second-to-last drive of the first half. They started at their own 25 and moved it to the Iowa red zone. The possession included an 18-yard pass to first-year wide receiver Jordan Clay to move the sticks on fourth-and-10.

Washington's offense stalled inside the Hawkeyes red zone. On third-and-5 from the Iowa 13-yard line, third-year quarterback Demond Williams Jr. kept the ball but only gained one yard. The drive ended with a 30-yard field goal from Tyler Robles to make it 27-3, which held going into halftime.

Unfortunately for the Huskies, the only scoring drive of the first half might have also resulted in the loss of Williams.

The junior signal-caller was in visible discomfort after his third-down keeper, and was checked on the sidelines by trainers.

Washington took over on offense again for one final drive to end the first half after the defense forced an Iowa three-and-out. Third-year quarterback Elijah Brown, who transferred into the program this past offseason from the Stanford Cardinal, was at quarterback and Williams headed to the locker room before halftime begun.

There was no word on Williams' condition or if he would return to the game at the time of his exit.

Brown opened the second-half back at quarterback.

On the final drive before halftime, Brown went 5-for-6 for 37 yards and drove UW to the Hawkeyes 37 before taking a five-yard sack. He attempted a Hail Mary to the end zone to end the half, which fell incomplete.

Williams was 6-for-11 for 69 yards and ran 11 times for -8 yards before exiting the game. He was sacked four times in the first half.

The Huskies entered the game 3-2 overall and 0-2 in Big Ten play. They're yet to score more than 24 points against a team in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and mustered just 10 total points in the third quarter this season, seven against FBS opponents.
