Washington Township football to be honored with "Parade of Champions"

The Washington Township High School football team celebrates its state Group 5 championship on Friday after a 31-12 win over Passaic Tech at MetLife Stadium.

The state champion Washington Township High School football team will be honored with a “Parade of Champions” on Thursday at Washington Lake Park, Mayor Anthony DellaPia announced on Tuesday.

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m.

Washington Township captured the program’s first state championship with a 31-12 victory over Passaic Tech on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The Minutemen finished with a 14-0 record, the third perfect campaign in Township football history.

Players and coaches will parade through the park ending at the amphitheater where introductions and more ceremonies will take place.
