WATCH: Indiana’s Omar Cooper pulls down game-winning catch against Penn State

Indiana football found itself with its back against the wall for the second time all season on the road against Penn State.

Facing a 24-20 deficit in the last two minutes of the game, quarterback Fernando Mendoza drove the Hoosier offense all the way down the field with some excellent catches from receivers Omar Cooper Jr, EJ Williams, Riley Nowakowski and Charlie Becker. Suddenly Indiana was in the red zone with four downs to score and take the lead.

The first catch was blown dead thanks to a late timeout call from Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith. The second, on first down, was batted straight into the air. The third was deflected at the line.

Facing third down, Mendoza called for the snap and faced immediate pressure and just managed to get a pass off over the middle, finding Cooper again:

Cooper rose up over Nittany Lions defensive back Zakee Wheatley, snagging the ball in the air and coming down with just enough room to get a foot down right in front of the official, who called timeout.

Penn State had one last gasp, mounting a short drive to get into field goal range for a tie before sputtering before reaching midfield. Indiana moved to 10-0 on the season.
