Indiana football fans are probably jumping up and down and quoting Kevin Garnett following Indiana football's first-ever national championship: "Anything is possible."

The Hoosiers defeated Miami 27-21 in the 2026 College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday, Jan. 19, from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The win closes out a perfect 16-0 season for Indiana, which entered this year with the most losses in college football history.

However, the Hoosiers escaped Miami with a victory and are now immortal in the eyes of their fanbase. Indiana is the first team to win its first national title since Florida did so in 1996.

The victory was not easy for Indiana, as it came down to the final plays of the game. The clinching play for the Hoosiers was when defensive back Jamari Sharpe picked off Carson Beck's pass at the Indiana 7-yard line to secure the national championship.

Here's a look at Indiana radio announcer Don Fischer's call of the interception:

"Looks, throws it down the field, and it is intercepted by Indiana! Wow, what a play! And it is Jamari Sharpe, who comes up with a pick, and he runs into the end zone," Fischer said, as he and everyone in the booth celebrated.

Fernando Mendoza kneeled the ball a couple of times following the interception to bleed the clock and finish off the Indiana victory.

The Hoosiers are the third straight Big Ten Conference team to win the national championship.
