No. 10 Notre Dame has gotten off to a strong start against Navy, thanks in large part, once again, to running back Jeremiyah Love.

The Fighting Irish forced a Midshipmen three-and-out to start the game, and then Navy's punt pinned Notre Dame deep in its own territory. The Irish tried two runs to Love that went nowhere, and it looked like Notre Dame might be punting itself. But a third-down pass play involved Love leaking out of the backfield instead of picking up the blitz, and quarterback CJ Carr found him.

Since Navy was blitzing, the play didn't merely result in first-down yardage — it went for 27 yards and moved Notre Dame out of the shadow of its own end zone. Carr found wide receiver Malachi Fields for 52 yards on a deep pass on the very next play. With Notre Dame now knocking on the door, Love carried for 11 yards.

Two more carries and Love was in the end zone yet again. The scoring drive took seven plays, covered 94 yards, and took 4:06 off the clock. This time the kick for the extra point was good, and Notre Dame led 7-0.
