Lee Corso isn’t finished making headgear picks.

The former Indiana football coach who retired from ESPN “College GameDay” after a Week 1 Texas-Ohio State pick appeared for another headgear pick. With the Hoosiers headed to play Purdue for the 100th Old Oaken Bucket game — “it’s a great game to pick,” Corso said in a social media post. — it was “easy” for Corso to pick.

And it was a match made in … Bloomington.

“I’m picking Indiana,” Corso said before putting on the mascot head of Hoosier the Bison after saying, “Go IU, beat Purdue!”

It was a moment that became full circle for IU’s athletic department. It hosted ESPN “College GameDay” for the first time in 2024, which marked a celebration of Corso’s 1979 Holiday Bowl team.

But there wasn’t a mascot head for Corso to wear. That, along with IU’s newfound football success, led to “Operation Bigfoot,” which led to the creation of a new mascot that debuted in August.
