It's going to be a pretty darn nice day for football in Spartan Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Michigan State will play host for one final time this year in its senior day game against Penn State on Saturday. This game is set to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET, and the weather forecast is looking pretty good for those who'll be attending this matchup. As long as the rain holds off.
Both Michigan State and Penn State come into this game with identical records of 3-6 overall and 0-6 in Big Ten play. Both teams have also lost six straight games so something will have to give in this Land Grant Trophy rivalry game between the Spartans and Nittany Lions.
So will the weather impact this week's matchup between Michigan State and Penn State? Let's take a look at the official weather forecast for Saturday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich. and how it could possibly impact this matchup.
Gameday Weather Forecast
Michigan State football is home for one final game at Spartan Stadium on Saturday afternoon. According to Weather.com, here are the highlights and key details for Saturday's weather forecast in East Lansing:
- High temperature for Saturday is 62 degrees, with a low of 33 degrees for the evening
- It will be cloudy for most of the day, with a chance of rain throughout the day
- There is roughly a 25% chance of rain
- There will be wind gusts of less than 15 miles per hour
- The sun will set around halftime of this game, so it'll begin to get chilly for the second half
Impact on Game
It's going to be unseasonably warm on Saturday afternoon. If the rain holds off, it'll be as nice of a weather game as you can get in mid-November in East Lansing. So as far as impact on the game, if it's nice conditions that'll typically benefit the better and more talented team — which in this case is Penn State. But, ultimately, I don't think the weather will have much of an impact as both of these teams are in the midst of dreadful seasons, and this game will come down to who actually wants to be there and battle.
