Welcome to the first full weekend of college football for 2026! This is your open thread to discuss anything and everything happening on the field leading up to the Apple Cup on Sunday.

Friday Night: There are two P4 matchups in the Friday Night window. Georgia Tech, seemingly on an upward trajectory under Brent Key, will travel to Boulder to take on Coach Prime and Colorado. Meanwhile, Miami will travel to the West Coach to take on Stanford, who is already 1-0. We also get to see the debut of Morgan Scalley as Utah’s HC as they host Idaho, and echoes of David Carr vs. Reggie Bush as USC takes on Fresno St.

Saturday Early: Indiana opens their National Championship defense with what should be a tune-up against North Texas. Alabama will break in its third QB in as many years under Kalen DeBoer in touted freshman Keelon Russell. Top-ranked Ohio State should have a cakewalk against Ball State.

Saturday Midday: #2 Oregon opens against Boise St. It isn’t Coach Pete’s Boise vintage, but it should be one of the more competitive games for a top-10 team. At least it promises to be a better matchup than Texas-Texas St or Georgia-Tennessee St. Auburn vs. Baylor in Atlanta looks like the most evenly-matched P4 matchup in this window.

Saturday Evening: LSU vs. Clemson from Baton Rouge is the game of the week. The Lane Train rolls into Tiger Stadium. Clemson enters the season unranked. The other fun game late is a Pac-12 After Dark Legacy game between UCLA and Cal.
