‘Well Done on Posting the Final Score,’ ‘Took Long Enough’ — Fans Rip Oregon Over Final Score Social Media Post

Oregon’s official football account posted the final score Saturday after No. 21 UCLA beat the No. 13 Ducks 17-15 at Autzen Stadium, then pointed fans toward next Saturday’s home game against Nebraska. The Ducks’ social media team might be on to the Cornhuskers, but fans of the Big Ten program aren’t ready to move on to the next game just yet.
Oregon Draws Fan Reaction Over Final-Score Social Post
For most programs, the post-game social media final score post is a standard procedure, an opportunity to celebrate a victory, or an unfortunate necessity in a loss. It was the latter for the Ducks in Week 6, but it has become so much more than that.
As of the morning after then-No. 6 Oregon’s 39-31 loss at Oklahoma State on Sept. 12, the account had posted no final score on X, Instagram or Facebook, BroBible reported.

The account’s last post on X that day, according to the same report, came early in the fourth quarter, when Moore hit Stewart for the go-ahead touchdown. Oklahoma State answered with a touchdown and a field goal to win.
“Well done on posting the final score!” one fan replied to the Ducks.
Saturday was Oregon’s first loss since that trip to Stillwater, after back-to-back wins that included a 41-27 victory at USC on Sept. 26.
“Took long enough,” CFBTalkDaily replied.
Dylan Raiola Struggles as Oregon Fails on Two-Point Tries
The margin was two points, and Oregon failed on a pair of two-point tries. The first followed Jordon Davison’s 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and the Ducks were stuffed.
The second came after Thomas’ touchdown pass to Stewart. UCLA was flagged for a facemask on that try, giving Oregon another shot from a half yard out, and the Bruins smothered Davison.
One fan took aim at the first-quarter decision, replying, “Lets go for 2 in the first quarter!!!!!”
The offense, under offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, finished with 272 yards, converted one of 12 third downs and came up empty on both fourth-down tries.
“If I don’t see an announcement that Drew Mehringer is relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator we are going to have problems,” another fan wrote.
Raiola, who threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns in relief at USC, finished 6-of-19 for 43 yards with two interceptions and a lost fumble before Thomas replaced him early in the fourth quarter. In Pro Football Network’s season grades, Raiola’s PFN Impact grade of 81.3 through Week 5 ranks tied for 40th of 165 graded and qualified FBS quarterbacks.
Oregon coach Dan Lanning said after the game that he shared some of the responsibility for Raiola’s performance and wanted to rebuild the quarterback’s confidence. “He wasn’t good enough today, I think he can acknowledge that. But we didn’t prepare him to be good enough today.”
Looking Ahead in Week 7 to Nebraska
Oregon hosts Nebraska in next Saturday’s Week 7 game, a matchup with the school Raiola transferred from in the offseason. Nebraska lost 20-17 to Indiana earlier Saturday. Moore remains in concussion protocol after he was hit in the first quarter at USC and left by ambulance.
Another fan took a calmer view, replying, “Tough loss but Bruins are really good and we’re missing our QB.”
UCLA, which hosts Wisconsin next Saturday, improved to 5-0 with backup Ty Dieffenbach behind center after starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava did not return for the second half because of a lower leg injury. Running back Wayne Knight rushed for 103 yards and caught Dieffenbach’s 9-yard touchdown pass. “This is not the normal UCLA,” Bruins coach Bob Chesney said on CBS after the game.

Lanning said he planned to find Raiola right after his postgame news conference. “If he just goes out there and works and focuses on improvement then he’s got a chance to become a good player.”
PFN’s College Football Playoff Meter gives Oregon an 80.4% chance to beat Nebraska and a 49.8% chance to make the playoff, a figure that rises to 57.2% with a win and falls to 19.8% with a loss.
