It’s the 13th edition of the Blue Federal Credit Union Fort Collins-area Football Player of the Week for the 2025 high school season and a semifinal version.
Wellington’s Brayton Meglen took top honors for games played Nov. 21-22 after a sensational semifinal performance.
The Eagles’ versatile offensive threat was all over the field in a cathartic 29-7 payback win over No. 3 The Classical Academy on Nov. 22.
Meglen hurt the Titans every which way, making game-changing plays on both sides of the ball.
The sophomore ran for 91 yards and a touchdown. He caught three passes for 88 yards, including an electric 80-yard TD pass that was bobbled before Meglen took it to the house.
And finally, at defensive back, Meglen had a pass deflection, two tackles and a tone-setting interception to start the second half.
The big performance helped keep No. 2 Wellington unbeaten and soaring into the Colorado Class 2A football state championship game for a second straight season.
It’s been a breakout year for Meglen in the sophomore’s first full varsity campaign, leading the team in all-purpose yards (1,364) and touchdowns (17).
The explosive Eagles’ sophomore is the first Wellington player to earn Blue Federal Credit Union Player of the Week honors this season.
Wellington fans showed their enthusiasm at the polls, elevating Meglen over an elite field with 53.9% of the vote.
That ultimately propelled him past four other championship-level nominees from Windsor and his own Wellington teammates.
- Tanner Gray, Wellington QB/DE (runner-up at 38.9%)
- Isaiah Cronk, Windsor LB
- Adrian Czyszczon, Windsor RB
- Ethan Thurnes, Wellington LB
