The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will soon travel to Reno, Nevada, to play against the Nevada Wolf Pack at Mackay Stadium for Week 1 of the regular season on Saturday night. Throughout the spring and summer, Western Kentucky has held an intense quarterback competition between two players.
The first competitor is redshirt sophomore Rodney Tisdale Jr. Tisdale redshirted in his true freshman season and did not appear in any games. After serving as the backup quarterback in his redshirt freshman campaign, he took over as the starting quarterback for the final six games, delivering promising results. He completed 139 of 212 pass attempts for 1,432 yards, nine touchdowns, and seven interceptions, finishing with a 6-0 record across nine appearances.
The second challenger is redshirt junior transfer Brock Glenn. The former four-star recruit spent his first three seasons with Florida State, serving as the second- and third-string while also making seven starts. Glenn has completed 76 of 175 pass attempts for 895 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions, finishing with a 1-6 record across 16 appearances.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers make a massive QB decision for 2026
According to Jeff Nations of The Bowling Green Daily News, Western Kentucky has named Rodney Tisdale Jr. the starting quarterback against Nevada for Saturday night, with Brock Glenn serving as the backup. Tisdale ultimately won the competition because of his strong finish to his redshirt freshman campaign, during which the Hilltoppers went 6-0. This spells bad news for Glenn, the former Florida State four-star recruit who was unable to win a Group of Five quarterback competition.
