Western Michigan's Myrtle Beach Bowl game started early, with an 11 a.m. ET kickoff on Friday, Dec. 19.
The game was over even quicker.
The Broncos blasted Kennesaw State, 41-6, in the inaccurately-named Myrtle Beach Bowl (the game took place at Coastal Carolina's stadium in Conway, South Carolina), in a game that was over almost as soon as it started.
The Broncos, after defeating Miami (Ohio) in the MAC championship game, kept the momentum going in the Palmetto State, scoring a 65-yard touchdown on a Jalen Buckley carry on their first offensive play of the game.
Four plays later, Kennesaw State fumbled when he was sacked and the Broncos returned it to the house for a 14-0 lead just over a minute into the game. It was the first ever defensive touchdown in a bowl game for the Broncos.
WMU forced a punt after a three-and-out on the next drive, then capped off another touchdown drive with a 4-yard TD pass to make it 21-0.
There was just more dominance from there.
In the end, the Broncos only outgained the Owls by a few yards, 423-378, but most of the game ended up being garbage time as the Broncos didn't run up the score too badly once they went up 41-0.
Buckley was the star of the day, rushing for 178 yards on just eight carries for a ridiculous 21.8 yards per carry. It was part of a dominant team effort on the ground, rushing for 303 yards on the day.
The win capped doff an impressive 10-4 campaign for the Broncos under coach Lance Taylor in his third and best season so far.
