MOBILE, Ala. ― Alabama football defensive tackle Jeremiah Beaman is a full participant in offseason workouts as he completes the rehabilitation of a season-ending knee injury and is expected to participate in spring practice at least on a limited basis, according to UA defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.
“Beam’s doing a great job coming off of his injury. He’s working out with the guys right now, he’s in the rotation of the normal workouts that we’re doing,” Wommack told The Tuscaloosa News. “I think he’ll be able to do some things for us in spring football, then be in a great spot for summer, then by fall camp he should be ready to roll.”
Last August, Wommack had big plans for Beaman.
Wommack had seen enough of Beaman in fall camp last year to be sure the former Birmingham Parker High star would be a significant part of the Crimson Tide‘s defensive line rotation. Indeed, when team captain Tim Keenan missed UA’s season-opening loss to Florida State, it was Beaman who stepped into a starting role.
Days later, Beaman (6-foot-4, 314 pounds) sustained a season-ending knee injury.
“I was so excited about him going into last year, then such a heartbreaking injury. He was ready to give us an opportunity to operate at a really high level,” Wommack added. “I think he’s hungry. You feel the sense of urgency from him.”
Beaman is one of the few returning defensive linemen for the Crimson Tide, which recently added five players at that position from the NCAA transfer portal.
