What are the odds? LSU opens as 7.5-point favorites in their Week 4 matchup vs. Texas A&M

It’s Week 4, and the LSU Tigers are back home in Death Valley this Saturday night to take on the Texas A&M Aggies and looking to get back in the win column.

The Tigers’ highly anticipated trip to Oxford did not go as planned, as they suffered their first loss of the season, falling 32-24 to Ole Miss.

In a game that was filled with plenty of emotions surrounding Lane Kiffin’s return to his former home, LSU once again struggled early on as Ole Miss jumped out to a 17-0 lead before the Tigers finally got on the board when RB Dilin Jones capped a 17-play, 75-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.

However, any momentum that LSU gained was quickly erased. Ole Miss Trinidad Chambliss connected with WR Deuce Alexander for a touchdown just before halftime, sending the Tigers into the locker room trailing 24-7.

However, LSU looked like a completely different team in the second half.

An interception by CB Jakeem Jackson helped set up a Sam Leavitt touchdown run, and Leavitt later connected with WR Winston Watkins Jr. for another score. A Scott Starzyk field goal early in the fourth quarter completed the comeback and to tie the game up at 24.

But Ole Miss responded back when it mattered most. Chambliss capped a 75-yard drive with a 14-yard touchdown run to put the Rebels back in front 32-24.

LSU did get one final opportunity to force overtime, driving to the Ole Miss 6-yard line, but unfortunately, Leavitt was intercepted in the end zone on fourth down which dashed the hopes of a comeback attempt.

Despite battling back from a 17-point halftime deficit, LSU just could not overcome another slow start. Now, the Tigers must put the disappointment in Oxford behind them as they return to Death Valley for another big SEC matchup against Texas A&M, which is also looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season

According to our friends at FanDuel, LSU is currently a 7.5 -point favorite over Texas A&M with the over/under set at 53.5 points. However, expect plenty of movement in those numbers as Saturday night’s matchup approaches.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on ABC.
