The US LBM Coaches Poll No. 2 Notre Dame faces its biggest test yet as it travels to Utah to face No. 8 BYU.

The Fighting Irish have had it relatively easy so far, but the Cougars are the first ranked team they'll face. It just so happens that it’s a top-10 road game, one that won’t be easy.

It's a tough road test for a team with playoff hopes, and with Miami (FL) waiting in the wings in early November. Notre Dame will obviously have a much tougher road to the playoff if it loses both games than if it wins both or goes 1-1, and so a win here will obviously help avoid that outcome.

  • Notre Dame 34, BYU 31: Notre Dame will have its hands full with a very good team in a hostile place to play. It wouldn't be shocking if BYU wins. That said, I suspect Notre Dame's talent and depth is just good enough to win a nail-biter.

  • Moneyline: Notre Dame -425
