Oregon football scouting report for Week 2 vs. Oklahoma State

  • 2026 Record: 1-0, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Best player: Senior quarterback Dante Moore is a top-five Heisman Trophy favorite and potentially the top player at his position in the NFL Draft. He started his campaign strong in Oregon’s opener against Boise State throwing for 378 yards and three touchdowns on 75.7% completion accuracy. Moore is an elite arm-talent. He led college football last season with 15 touchdown passes traveling at least 20 yards downfield. He lit the Cowboys up for 266 yards and three touchdowns last year.
  • The case for Oregon: The Ducks have lost three games over the past two years: Twice last season to eventual national champion Indiana and once in 2024 to eventual national champion Ohio State. The Cowboys did not look like national championship contenders in Week 1. Skilled receivers Dakorien Moore and Jeremiah McClellan will win matchups against OSU corners and Oregon will generate chunk plays in the passing game. The Cowboys offense, searching for a new left tackle following Jacob Sexton's injury and a backup running back behind Caleb Hawkins, won’t be able to score enough points to keep up.
  • The case for OSU: Oregon looked beatable against Boise State. The Ducks trailed 17-7 just before halftime and hurt themselves, committing 10 penalties for 90 yards. Hawkins was solid against Tulsa, rushing for 4.4 yards per carry. OSU’s offense was at it's best with Hawkins carrying the football. If the Cowboys can run the ball and control the clock they can keep Oregon’s dynamic offense on the sideline.
