The College Football Playoff Fiesta Bowl semifinal features two teams in Mississippi and Miami that have busted the 12-team bracket with upsets while handling different forms of adversity to be one step away from a national championship game appearance.
For Ole Miss, the sixth-seeded Rebels, who lost their head coach in Lane Kiffin to LSU before the playoffs started, have rallied behind Pete Golding and continued their historic season, which includes a historic win over No. 3 Georgia in the CFP Sugar Bowl quarterfinal.
For Miami, the 10th-seeded Hurricanes, who snuck in controversially over Notre Dame due to a head-to-head tiebreaker, have picked up back-to-back upset wins over No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 2 Ohio State for their first-ever CFP wins. The Hurricanes’ defense has given up just 17 points in those two games.
Now, both programs meet in the CFP Fiesta Bowl semifinal on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona for the first time since 1951, and the fourth time in program history.
Aside from picking up quarterfinal wins over two top-four seeds, the two programs also share something with a postgame celebration: B2A.
But what does it mean? Here’s what to know ahead of Thursday’s CFP semifinal:
What does B2A mean?
As its acronym suggests, B2A means “Belt To Ass.” It’s a phrase and gesture — snapping a belt together or snapping it against something — that has been around well before the 2025-26 College Football Playoff with the Rebels and Hurricanes, as it has been used to celebrate a convincing and dominant win.
For Miami, the phrase and gesture are commonly seen and heard from Hurricanes legend Michael Irvin, who is a fixture on the sidelines during the games. Here’s a video of Irvin using it after Miami’s CFP Cotton Bowl quarterfinal win over Ohio State:

The Rebels were caught doing something similar following their CFP Sugar Bowl quarterfinal win over Georgia. It’s also something that Kiffin joined in on with Kewan Lacy following their Week 14 win over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, which happened to be the final game Kiffin coached at Ole Miss before departing for LSU.
It’s also something that has been seen in the Rebels’ student section this season, as students have taken their belts off during and after a game and snapped them together to celebrate the victory.
