What Has Kansas State Coach Collin Klein Learned About Team After Three Games?

Kansas State Wildcats coach Collin Klein has started strong in his first year at his alma mater.

The Wildcats have won their first three games in impressive fashion. It began with a 71-3 victory against the Nicholls Cowboys and a 34-7 win versus the Washington State Cougars. It continued with a 31-20 triumph over the Tulane Green Wave, a participant in last year's College Football Playoff.

Still, Klein thinks there is even room for more improvement. Here's what he had to say about the progress during his midweek game press conference.

"I think we're learning more every day," Klein said. "I think we're learning more every week. You're never a finished product. We're constantly growing, and I think that's something that we put a lot of emphasis on as a staff and our players are embracing, too."

The Wildcats will learn just how much they have developed this weekend when they open Big 12 conference play on the road against the Cincinnati Bearcats. Both teams enter the matchup with undefeated records.

The Bearcats have impressive wins over the Boston College Eagles and the Miami of Ohio Redhawks. They also have a 62-10 blowout win against the Western Carolina Catamounts.

WILDCATS LAND TOP IN-STATE RECRUIT

Klein is still getting acclimated to his new yet old surroundings in his first year in charge.

But that hasn't prevented him from focusing on the future as well. In his first season, Klein has hit the recruiting trail hard the past nine months. The latest example of his work paying  off was the recent commitment of recruit Taylen Washington. He announced the decision earlier this week on social media.

Washington is a standout linebacker/athlete at Derby High School. He is a member of the 2028 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound Washington is the first commitment of the class.

He is rated the No. 5 prospect in the state of Kansas.
