What is the average age of Auburn football's 2026 roster?

Heading into the 2026 season, college football players are becoming "younger."

Gone are the days of COVID redshirts granting extra eligibility for players, and the new "5-for-5" rule is beginning to come into play. Because of this, the average age of college football players will begin to look "normal" again, with 18-22-year-olds taking the field.

Ahead of the 2026 season, RotoWire examined each college football roster and organized them by average age. Where do the Auburn Tigers land? According to RotoWire's data, Auburn ranks No. 87 in average roster age at 20.22 years, placing them in the lower tier in the rankings.

While Auburn boasts one of the youngest rosters in all of college football for the 2026 season, they are middle-of-the-pack with its SEC counterparts. Auburn's roster is the seventh-oldest in the SEC, trailing Mississippi State and one spot ahead of Missouri.

Arkansas boasts the oldest roster in the conference with an average age of 20.50, and Georgia possesses the youngest roster in the SEC, and all of college football, with an average age of 19.81. According to RotoWire data, the average age of a college football player in the SEC is 20.17 years, which is younger than its Power Four counterparts in the Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC. The only conference to boast a younger player average is the Independents, which houses only Notre Dame and UConn.

Auburn's roster will feature 25 seniors in 2026, compared to 22 freshmen. The age of the transfer portal is certain to alter Auburn's roster over the years, but one thing is certain: the age of the average college football player is changing for the better.
