On Thursday afternoon, the CFP quarterfinal matchup at the Rose Bowl against the Indiana Hoosiers might look a bit different than previous trips to Pasadena for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and as to why, the reason is the weather.

According to the latest update from James Spann of the Alabama Weather Network on Wednesday morning, it could be a rainy on New Year’s Day for the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Per Spann, a majority of rain will likely occur Thursday morning, but there is also a chance for showers during the game as well.

Regardless of whether it rains during the game or not, it appears that the conditions in the Rose Bowl will be wet, a storyline that will be something to monitor for each. As a result, could both Alabama and Indiana look to establish the run early on, and how much of an impact will this have on special teams in particular?

Alabama and Indiana are set to meet Thursday, Jan. 1, for the CFP quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl from Pasadena, California. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.
