For the first time under head coach Kalen DeBoer, the Alabama Crimson Tide have lost inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

On Saturday night, the Crimson Tide suffered their second loss of the season with a disappointing 23-21 loss to the visiting Oklahoma Sooners, a game where Alabama committed three very costly turnovers. This was also Alabama’s second consecutive loss to the Sooners in as many years.

Following the game, DeBoer took to the podium for his postgame press conference following the loss, with the head coach of the Crimson Tide sharing his thoughts on the game overall during his opening statement with the media.

“Just really disappointed in the outcome,” DeBoer said. “We played a lot of great snaps out there, but the turnover battle, obviously, we got killed there and that became the game and we’ve done a great job of taking care of it. We’ve done a good job of taking it off of teams, and I think it was probably 17 points coming off of turnovers and a short field at the beginning where they got a field goal on the punt return, so we missed our opportunities for sure, and that’s what hurts so much.”

“I have no doubt about how we’ll respond, but the guys are disappointed and frustrated about how this ended up here because that’s the moment we’re in.”

Following the loss to Oklahoma, Alabama’s record now sits at 8-2 overall (6-1 SEC) ahead of a Week 13 home game against Eastern Illinois this upcoming Saturday.

After the Eastern Illinois game, Alabama will conclude the regular season Week 14 on the road at Auburn for the Iron Bowl, a game that now has major significance for the Crimson Tide’s CFP hopes.
