Happy Thanksgiving LSU Tigers fans! This has certainly not been a season to write home about, sitting outside of SEC and College Football Playoff contention with a fired head coach, there are also plenty of things to be happy about.

The future is still bright for the Tigers football team thanks to potential coaching hires and star younger players. Even though the football season is ending, there are plenty of Tigers athletics to celebrate!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are a couple of things for LSU fans to be thankful for:

The Lane Kiffin Saga Is Almost Mercifully Over

For the past few weeks, Tigers fans have been waiting anxiously to figure out the next steps for Kiffin. It's down to either him coming to LSU, going to the Florida Gators or staying with the Ole Miss Rebels.

It's been exhausting to follow, which is likely by design of Kiffin and his superstar agent Jimmy Sexton. It should be coming to an end soon.

The coach is leading the Rebels for at least one more game, the Egg Bowl against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, on Friday morning. It is expected that a decision will be announced within about 24 hours of that game ending. Soon, the Tigers will know if Kiffin will be their next coach or not.

Many around LSU feel good about where they stand with the coach, but the same could be said for the other schools as well. That's why no one can wait for this mess to be over with.

Star Freshmen Players

There have been two five-star freshmen that have established their roles later in the season and are primed to become superstars next season: Harlem Berry and DJ Pickett.

Berry, a New Orleans native, has 87 carries for 423 yards with two touchdowns on the year. Those numbers aren't elite or anything, but he has 4.9 yards per carry and has had at least 50 yards in each of the last five games. He is just scratching the surface of his ability and has shown flashes of stardom.

Pickett has been the third cornerback in the rotation all season long and could be starting, but the team just has so much depth there already. He'll be starting for sure next year and will be one of the top corners in the nation.

Per Pro Football Focus, the 6-foot-5 cornerback has been targeted 27 times this season and allowed just 13 catches for 125 yards and no touchdowns. He has two interceptions, a pass breakup up and two sacks to his name.
