What time is the Penn State football game vs Michigan State? Date, TV channel, prediction

Penn State football may finally have its long-awaited dynamic running back combination working at full-throttle again.

The Nittany Lions hope that senior Nick Singleton’s increased productivity the past two games is a sign that he and Kaytron Allen can truly drive them through these final regular season games, starting Saturday at Michigan State.

That could go a long way in helping the Lions break their near-record, six-game losing streak.

Singleton has scored four touchdowns the past two weeks and broke his first big run of the season in the loss to Indiana.

“I think Nick is back full-confident, starting in the Ohio State … hopefully, we have the old Nick back for this week,” Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith said on Monday.

Smith called Singleton and Allen “our two best offensive players,” despite Singleton’s season-starting slump.

They have combined for 19 rushing touchdowns this season. Allen is averaging 5.3 yards per carry and is 319 away from breaking Penn State’s all-time leading rushing record, held by Evan Royster.

Penn State football schedule: Nittany Lions’ next game

Penn State, riding a six-game losing streak, will play as a betting favorite for the first time in a month at Michigan State (3-6, 0-6 Big Ten). Saturday’s game begins at 3:30 p.m. from Spartan Stadium in East Lansing and will be televised by CBS and streamed via Paramount+.

Penn State vs. Michigan State prediction

Penn State certainly has the “good-vibes” edge coming into this match-up of what should be very different six-loss teams.

The Lions actually played like a Top 10 outfit, in many ways, in their last-minute loss to Indiana — with the kind of pass rush, downfield pass game, two-headed tailback power and energy level we’ve been expecting for weeks.

Those things show up again, including an ever-improving Ethan Grunkemeyer at quarterback, and the Lions might very well walk away with their first victory since the middle of September.

Prediction: Penn State 34, Michigan State 16
