What will Texas A&M football's record be after the first five games?

With the season opener just 17 days away, Texas A&M is preparing to face one of the most difficult schedules in college football.

The Aggies are one of nine teams in the nation with at least six contests scheduled against teams ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll. According to ESPN's Football Power Index, the program also ranks No. 11 in the country. While there are some questions about the newcomers on the offensive line, this year's team still has the weapons to achieve great success.

Here are record predictions for Texas A&M's first five games on the 2026 schedule:

Texas A&M vs. Missouri State – Sept. 5 (6 p.m. CT on ESPN)

Prediction: Texas A&M 56 | Missouri State 10

It will take time for the new offensive line to gel, but starting the season with a non-conference matchup against the Bears should give the unit ample opportunity to bond. This should be the type of game where head coach Mike Elko can give the backups some playing time and keep everyone healthy for a massive matchup against a Big 12 opponent at Kyle Field the following week.

Texas A&M vs. Arizona State – Sept. 12 (11 a.m. CT on ABC)

Prediction: Texas A&M 38 | Arizona State 17

The Kenny Dillingham-led Sun Devils will march into College Station to play the Aggies for the first time since 2015. Texas A&M secured a 38-17 victory in the last meeting, but Arizona State has plenty of talent to put up a solid fight against the Maroon and White. This game will also provide junior quarterback Marcel Reed with a tougher opponent before the SEC opener against Kentucky. Despite some personnel changes, Arizona State is just as dangerous and should be a Big 12 contender again in 2026.

Prediction: Texas A&M 30 | Kentucky 13

Another team on the docket that has undergone a major makeover is Texas A&M's first SEC opponent in the new nine-game conference slate. Will Stein is the new head coach in Lexington, after a successful tenure as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Oregon. He hauled in a plethora of impressive transfers, including former Notre Dame quarterback Kenny Minchey, who is a talented dual-threat signal-caller who could cause the Aggies some challenges in Week 3. The Wildcats are a couple of years away from reaching the next level, however. I like Reed and the electric Texas A&M wide receiving corps to get the job done and record a massive league win before taking a trip down to Death Valley in Week 4.

Texas A&M at LSU – Sept. 26 (Flex time window on TBA)

Prediction: Texas A&M 27 | LSU 31

After back-to-back years of wins against the LSU Tigers, it all could come to a screeching halt on September 26. With the new conference schedule format, Texas A&M is forced to play LSU in Tiger Stadium again this season. This is a new-look Tiger squad, however, featuring one of the top offensive masterminds in the sport. Lane Kiffin will have his team raring to go for this contest, including Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt. LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker has revamped the defense, which could cause the new offensive line some issues.

Texas A&M vs. Arkansas – Oct. 3 (Flex time window on TBA)

Prediction:Texas A&M 42 | Arkansas 10

Unfortunately for the Razorbacks, they will be arriving at Kyle Field greeted by a fired-up Texas A&M team, as the Aggies look to bounce back from the LSU loss. First-year head coach Ryan Silverfield will have his hands full this season, as he looks to rebuild Arkansas back into a contender in the SEC. Rome wasn't built in a day, which is why I see Reed and company having a massive day to secure a big win over the rival Hogs.
