The Georgia Bulldogs continue to strike out on elite quarterback recruits in the class of 2027. Georgia‘s latest miss is for four-star quarterback Peter Bourque, who is the No. 7 quarterback in the nation. Bourque committed to Virginia Tech over Georgia.
It may seem early in the 2027 recruiting process for many fans. It is only May, right? Well, recruits are committing earlier and earlier in the process. Of the top 30 quarterback recruits in the 2027 cycle, just one remains uncommitted. The one uncommitted quarterback, Colton Nussmeier, is a Georgia football recruiting target. Nussmeier is a top-10 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class and has a lot of teams battling for his services.
If Nussmeier commits elsewhere, then Georgia could look to flip another team’s quarterback recruit or sign a three-star quarterback and hope they are a diamond in the rough. Of course, Georgia could add a transfer. Georgia has not used the transfer portal for a starting quarterback recently and transfers tend to get expensive.
The Bulldogs also have plenty of options on the roster including Ryan Puglisi and Ryan Montgomery. Other quarterbacks on Georgia’s roster include redshirt freshman Hezekiah Millender and four-star signee Bryson Beaver.
The 2026 season is Gunner Stockton’s final year of eligibility, so the Bulldogs will in all likelihood need a new starter next season. The Bulldogs do have a commitment from five-star class of 2028 quarterback Jayden Wade, who could reclassify to the 2027 cycle for Georgia, but there’s no guarantee Wade does that.
