It’s exciting times for Northwestern Football. As the Big Ten now owns three straight national championships on the gridiron, the school known more for its academic prowess than its football accolades is trying to jump in with the big boys. The Wildcats recently hired former Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and are now excited to open a brand new, state-of-the-art facility beginning in 2026.
Earlier this week, it was announced that the New Ryan Field will be officially unveiled on October 2 in a matchup with Penn State. The date will mark exactly 100 years since the original Ryan Field opened in 1926, according to the Northwestern Athletics website. But what about the Buckeyes? The last time the Ohio State traveled to Evanston was in 2022, not counting the Wrigley Field game in 2024.

It is well known that OSU fans travel well. Afterall, every game is a home game, right? So, when will Buckeye Nation have the opportunity to see the newest venue in the Big Ten? Well, it won’t happen this year as Northwestern is scheduled to come to Columbus on November 14. However, the wait won’t be long as the Buckeyes travel to Evanston in 2027 with an exact date still to be announced.
The new stadium promises to bring one of the best experiences in the Big Ten and be the most intimate. Seating only 35,000 tickets will be limited, but if history has anything to say, the stands will be filled with Scarlet and Gray when the Buckeyes come to town.
