Where Alabama sits in ESPN FPI rankings after win vs. East Carolina

After opening the season with a dominant 48-10 home win over East Carolina, where do the Alabama Crimson Tide now sit in ESPN's latest Football Power Index (FPI) rankings?

As of Sunday, Sept. 6, ESPN's FPI rankings have Alabama as the nation's No. 9 overall team with a rating of 22.5. In the preseason, Alabama was ranked No. 8 nationally with a 20.1 rating.

The Crimson Tide are currently the fourth highest ranked SEC team, trailing only Texas (No. 1), Georgia (No. 5), and LSU (No. 7). Sitting between Texas and Georgia within the top five are Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Miami, which is as of Sunday, Sept. 6.

Following the win vs. East Carolina, ESPN's FPI also currently projects Alabama's win-loss record at 8.9-3.3, giving the Crimson Tide a 2.4% chance to win out. Other current Alabama percentages, per ESPN's FPI, include 10.7% to win the SEC, 48.5% to make the College Football Playoff, and 4.5% to win the national championship.

Alabama will return to action this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 12, on the road at Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
