The Georgia Bulldogs had 12 players enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason and all 12 have announced their transfer destinations. Eleven of Georgia’s 12 outgoing transfers are remaining at the Power Four level. Seven of those 11 players ended up in the Big 12 or ACC, which is widely viewed as a downgrade from the SEC or Big Ten.
Georgia’s overall transfer haul is viewed as a net loss, per On3, which ranks Georgia’s transfer class No. 53 in the nation. On3’s rankings factor in both incoming and outgoing transfers and it scores Georgia’s class second-worst in the SEC ahead of just the Auburn Tigers, who had a coaching change and lost a ton of talent.
Georgia added eight transfers and lost 12 transfers, all of which On3 ranks as three-star transfers. The Bulldogs additionally lost three dismissed or medically retired players this offseason.
Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia primarily used the transfer portal to build depth this offseason, but the Bulldogs certainly lost depth via the portal. Georgia still returns a very talented roster for the 2026 season. However, the Bulldogs have made their philosophy clear. Georgia is going to rely more on traditional recruiting and development than the transfer portal.
