Coming up next for the Oklahoma Sooners is a date with the No. 1 Texas Longhorns next Saturday in the Cotton Bowl. The Red River Showdown gives the Sooners a chance to get their season back on track.
In this week's US LBM Coaches Poll, the Sooners are no longer receiving votes after the bye week. Oklahoma is regrouping after a 41-13 loss to the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in Week 4.
The Sooners have ample opportunity to get back into the College Football Playoff picture, but they have to win out. Michigan's loss to Minnesota on Saturday didn't help the Sooners. The Wolverines dropped out of the Top 25.
After the Sooners take on No. 1 Texas, Oklahoma faces No. 25 Kentucky, No. 20 Mississippi State, South Carolina, No. 15 Florida, No. 11 Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and No. 16 Missouri. That's potentially six ranked opponents over their final eight games. But it all starts with Texas.
The Longhorns garnered 45 of a possible 74 first-place votes this week. The rest of the top five, featuring Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami, and Indiana, remained the same. The only change to the top 10 saw the Florida Gators drop seven spots to No. 15 after their lopsided loss to Missouri.
Four SEC teams are featured in the top 10 of the US LBM Coaches Poll. The ACC has one team, the Big Ten has two, and the Big 12 has two.
Here's a look at the full US LBM Coaches Poll released Sunday, October 4.
