Where are the top 2027 Massachusetts high school football recruits?

The opening games for the next high school football season are still months away, but we can predict who some of the impact players from the Class of 2027 will be.

247Sports has put together who they think will be the top 11 returning recruits from the state of Massachusetts. An amazing seven of the picks played in Marion last season for the undefeated Tabor Academy football team that won the NEPSAC Class B regular season championship as well as the NEPSAC’s John Papas Bowl.

Also included on the elite list are players who led Catholic Memorial and Xaverian to MIAA Super Bowl victories two months ago.

Here is a quick look at the top Class of 2027 football players in the state, according to 247Sports.

1. Peter Bourque, Quarterback

Tabor Academy

The Hingham native has found football success at every level, starting all the way back to his days with Hingham Youth Football. At 6-4, 220 pounds, Bourque has grown into one of the top QB recruits in the country and was this year’s Gatorade High School Football Player of Year for Massachusetts. The Tabor Academy junior led his team to a 9-0 record last season, throwing for 2,241 yards and 18 touchdown passes. Bourque is ready to step into the big time as a commit to the University of Michigan.

2.  Isaiah Rogers, Running Back

Springfield Central

The 5-11, 205-pound Rogers has both speed and power in his running back bag of tricks. Division I programs have taken notice and Rogers has received offers from colleges including reigning national champion Indiana University, Boston College, Notre Dame and Penn State. He is also an excellent track athlete, specializing in sprint events.

3. Jackson Tucker, Safety

Catholic Memorial

Tucker played safety and wide receiver for Catholic Memorial last season, helping  the Knights to a 9-2 record that concluded with a 41-14 win over Bishop Feehan in the Division 2 Super Bowl. He will most likely stay close to home after announcing a verbal commitment to Boston College.

4. Brady Scott, Athlete

Tabor Academy

Scott has an offer in hand from the University of Iowa as well as several other Division I colleges, including Wisconsin and Penn State. His strength and off the chart athleticism could lead him to several places on the gridiron, but he projects as a defensive back. Scott played a key part in Tabor’s perfect season that ended with a win over Buckingham, Browne & Nichols in the NEPSAC John Papas Bowl.

5. Botand Varga, Offensive Tackle

Tabor Academy

The junior captain and offensive tackle is literally one of the biggest reasons for Tabor Academy’s run to the NEPSAC Class B championship. The 6-8, 310-pound native of Hungary is one of top offensive lineman recruits in Massachusetts. He is a road grater in shoulder pads, keeping his quarterback safe in pass protection and opening big holes for his running backs.

Xaverian junior quarterback Will Wood of Natick raises his hands up after winning the Division 1 Super Bowl game against St. John's Prep at Gillette Stadium, Dec. 6, 2025.

6. William Wood, Quarterback

Xaverian

Wood has played some great games for the Hawks, but none were more impressive than what he did this season in a 41-35 Division 1 Super Bowl victory over St. John’s Prep. Wood threw for 345 yards and five touchdowns to lead Xaverian to its third straight state championship. The five TDs tied him for the most in one game in MIAA Super Bowl history. He has Div. 1 offers from schools including Syracuse, Stanford, and Wake Forest to contemplate for his next stop.

7. Grady Holmes, Offensive Tackle

Tabor Academy

Paired with Varga along Tabor Academy’s offensive line, the group helped put up an average of 42.7 points on the scoreboard and 475 yards per game last season. The 6-8, 320-pound left tackle did not allow a sack all season and was named to the NEPSAC Class B all-star second team. He has an offer from Syracuse. Varga also competes with the Seawolves track and field team.

8. Zahir Mitchell, Cornerback

Milton Academy

The 5-11, 180-pound cornerback from Gardner was a menace to opponents of Milton Academy with his speed (4.5 40 yard dash) and strength (285 pound bench press). He also played wide receiver for Milton Academy, which won the NEPSAC’s Kevin Macdonald Bowl this season. Mitchell has verbally committed to Boston College.

9. Quinn Vanneste, Linebacker

Tabor Academy

A native of Canada, Vanneste was an impact player on the defensive side of the football for the Seawolves. The 6-1, 190-pound star can play inside or outside linebacker and also excels with the track and field team.

10. Kaiden Drinkwater, Wide Receiver

Tabor Academy

The 6-2, 185-pound Leominster native was one of Peter Bourque’s favorite targets down the field last fall at Tabor. Drinkwater has been offered by Boston College, Duke, Syracuse and Coastal Carolina.

11. Dominic Maser, Offensive Tackle

Tabor Academy

Maser was an NEPSAC Honorable Mention all-star selection. The 6-8, 280-pound lineman started at Duxbury High as an underclassman before moving on to play for the Seawolves. He has played both guard and tackle. Maser received an offer from Virginia Tech in December.
