The Colorado Buffaloes football program added an elite four-star safety early Wednesday morning.

Gabe Jenkins, a Pittsburgh native, is one of the top players in the class of 2027, with 247Sports ranking him as the class's No. 186 player, No. 17 safety and No. 8 overall recruit from Pennsylvania.

Jenkins becomes the Buffaloes' highest-rated 2027 commitment and an impressive get for Deion Sanders' program, stealing him away from Penn State, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Virginia Tech and several others.

While Jenkins is only Colorado's fifth 2027 commitment, it is a significant step up from where CU was a year ago, when it had only one player committed to its 2026 class.

After Jenkins commitment following up Ba'Roc Willis yesterday, here is where Colorado's class of 2027 now ranks nationally and in the Big 12.

Colorado football updated class of 2027 recruiting ranking after Gabe Jenkins' commitment

  • On3: No. 38 overall, No. 3 Big 12
  • 247Sports: No. 53 overall, No. 9 Big 12

In less than 24 hours, Colorado improved their national ranking in the top 40 and its conference ranking from sixth to third. After a huge recruiting weekend, two of those visitors have already committed, and that could continue over the next few weeks.
