The Oklahoma Sooners have another week of nonconference play before opening up the SEC part of their schedule with the Auburn Tigers on March 13. Through 21 games, the Sooners are 19-2 on the season. Despite an impressive display at the plate, the Sooners sit in an unfamiliar position a month into the season. The Sooners aren't the No. 1 team in softball, and they're not even in the top five in the NFCA Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.

The Sooners came in at No. 6 once again and are behind four other SEC teams. Tennessee held onto the top spot, earning 30 of a possible 31 first-place votes. They're followed by the only non-SEC team in the top seven, the national championship runner-ups from last year, Texas Tech. Texas, Alabama, and Florida round out the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 following the Sooners are Arkansas, UCLA, Florida State, and Nebraska.

11 of the 15 SEC teams are featured in the rankings this week, the most of any conference in the coaches poll. Two other programs, Ole Miss and Auburn, received votes.

The SEC will be a tight race in 2026 with a number of teams making their case as contenders for the national championship this season. Here's a look at the full NFCA Coaches Poll.
