Where did the Oklahoma Sooners land in the SEC Preseason Media Poll?

The 2026 edition of SEC media days has come and gone in Tampa, Florida. The college football regular season is just over a month away, and fall camps will begin in a couple of weeks.

As always, the SEC preseason media poll followed the week's procession, with those in attendance voting on the order of finish in the league this year.

With the conference moving to nine league games this year, the two participants in the SEC Championship Game will once again be determined by which two teams have the two best overall SEC winning percentages.

So, where did each team rank in the poll? How does the media that covers the league think the conference will shake out in 2026? Here is the projected order of finish for the 2026 SEC Preseason Media Poll.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia has played in the SEC title game each of the last five years, winning three times, including the last two years. Kirby Smart's Bulldogs are a safe bet to be right at the top of the conference again.

2. Texas Longhorns

Texas made the SEC title game and the College Football Playoff in 2024, but slipped to three losses last year, despite high expectations. Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are again seen very highly in 2026.

3. Ole Miss Rebels

Ole Miss made a run to the CFP semifinals last year, and there's a lot of faith that they'll stay in the hunt in 2026. Pete Golding's Rebels return a lot of talent from last season's remarkable unit.

4. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M took a big step forward in 2025, making the playoff, but losing in the first round. Mike Elko and the Aggies are changing coordinators on both sides of the ball, but expectations are still very high.

5. LSU Tigers

LSU has high expectations this year, after falling flat in 2025. Lane Kiffin's Tigers are loaded with talent, but it's yet to be seen where they'll stack up in the SEC pecking order in 2026.

6. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama made it to the SEC title game last year and the quarterfinals of the CFP. However, the media seems a little low on Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide, based on where the program normally sits in these polls.

7. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma also made the playoff last year, losing in the first round, and serves as the lowest-ranked 2025 CFP participant in this poll. Brent Venables' Sooners will again look to prove the outsiders wrong in 2026. The Sooners earned two first-place votes.

8. Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee rounds out the first half of the rankings after dropping out of CFP contention last season. Josh Heupel and the Volunteers will look to get back in the conference title race this season.

9. Florida Gators

Florida is at the top of the second half of the rankings, looking to move forward after a bad 2025 season. Jon Sumrall's Gators are hoping to bring back the glory days when they helped run this league.

10. Missouri Tigers

Missouri rounds out the media poll's top ten teams after an up and down year in 2025. Eliah Drinkwitz and the Tigers want to prove that they're still in the mix to contend in the SEC, and for a playoff berth.

11. South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina had high expectations last year, but they didn't live up to them in 2025. Shane Beamer's Gamecocks are hoping for another bounce-back campaign in 2026.

12. Auburn Tigers

Auburn also fell short of expectations last year, leading to another round of starting over in 2026. Alex Golesh and the Tigers will look to surprise some folks and make some noise this fall.

13. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt is coming off of a wildly successful 2025 season, but now the time has come to build on it. Clark Lea's Commodores have fought their way out of the cellar, and now they want to continue their rise.

14. Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky is entering a new era in 2026, after a disappointing season in 2025. Will Stein and the Wildcats don't have the highest of expectations, but they're still safe from the bottom two spots.

15. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Mississippi State may have just one conference win in the last two years, but they took a step forward in 2025. Jeff Lebby's Bulldogs will now look to build on that progress in 2026.

16. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas came in last in this year's media poll, after falling apart in 2025. Ryan Silverfield and the Razorbacks will be looking to prove their doubters wrong this season, but it'll be an uphill battle.
