With seven months to go until the Early Signing Period, the Hurricanes have the No. 15 class in the nation, according to 247Sports.

Miami’s class currently has nine prospects in it — far from the likely two dozen or so recruits who will make their way to Coral Gables next year.

Here is a look at the early pledges:

Israel Abrams, quarterback

Abrams is one of the gems of Miami’s class so far. The quarterback from Illinois is listed as a four-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite ranking, but he is close to earning a fifth star. He is listed as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 39 player in the class.

Abrams completed 68.5 percent of his passes in 2025, racking up 4,072 yards and 40 touchdowns. He had six interceptions. Abrams also scored 10 rushing touchdowns as he led Montini Catholic to its second straight state title. Abrams has yet to lose a game as his high school’s starting quarterback.

“I think his poise is noticeable,” Abrams’ high school coach Mike Bukovsky said. “He’s done a great job handling not only acute pressure in the moment and situations during games, but he’s also done a good job handling the overall pressure of the situation and being recruited and seeing his name all over the place and things like that.”

Demarcus DeRoche, tight end

DeRoche, a Cardinal Gibbons standout, is one of the longest-tenured commits in Miami’s class. He picked the Hurricanes in August 2025.

DeRoche is listed as a multi-position athlete in 247Sports’ composite rankings, and he is the No. 21 athlete and No. 329 player in the class. He is a four-star prospect.

DeRoche plays both sides of the ball for the Chiefs. At tight end, he had 12 catches for 126 yards and seven touchdowns. As a defensive end, he had 13 tackles and a sack. Miami is recruiting him as a tight end.

Tyler Ford, offensive line

Ford is a big-bodied offensive lineman who committed to Miami in April. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound lineman is a Gainesville, Georgia, native, and he is the No. 64 offensive tackle in the class. Ford is rated a three-star prospect and is listed as the No. 693 player in the class.

Ford played left tackle as a junior in 2025, and the UM staff likes his power, foot speed and character.

Sherrod Gourdine, cornerback

Gourdine is another Broward County prospect in Miami’s class. The McArthur standout was the second Mustang to commit to UM, pledging in March.

Gourdine, a two-way player who will play defensive back at Miami, is listed as the No. 61 cornerback and No. 598 player in the class.

The Hurricanes believe Gourdine, a three-star prospect, could be a good fit as a nickelback who can force turnovers and make big plays.

Josh Johnson, defensive line

Johnson, a three-star prospect, hails from Key West, and he is a standout defensive lineman for the Conchs.

Johnson is listed as the No. 103 interior defensive lineman and No. 953 player in the 2027 class.

Johnson, listed at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds, committed to the Hurricanes in March. He was limited by injuries in 2025.

Jaylyn Jones, safety

Like Gourdine, Jones plays in the secondary at McArthur. Jones is the longest-tenured Miami commit, pledging to the Hurricanes on June 23, 2025.

Jones, a first-team All-County pick last year, racked up 37 tackles, 14 tackles for losses and 10.5 sacks in 2025.

Jones, a four-star prospect, is listed as the No. 32 safety and No. 320 player in the class.

Ty Keys, running back

Keys is the most recent Hurricanes commit, announcing his decision on May 1.

Keys, a four-star prospect, stars for Poplarville High in Mississippi, a team that primarily runs the ball. As a result, Keys racked up an astounding 3,285 rushing yards and 45 touchdowns on 301 carries last season. He has 5,072 rushing yards and 78 touchdowns in his high school career.

Keys is listed as the No. 14 running back and No. 214 player in the class.

Nick Lennear, wide receiver

Lennear is the top-rated prospect in the Hurricanes’ class at the moment. He is a five-star prospect and is listed as the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 12 player in the class.

Lennear was a standout at Miami Northwestern. Last year, he helped lead the Bulls to the state title game. He now plays for Miami Carol City. He also participated in the Navy All-American Bowl and had six catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.

If Lennear keeps his five-star ranking and the standout sticks with his pledge, he would be the first five-star player Cristobal has signed at Miami who did not play offensive or defensive line.

Sean Tatum, offensive line

Tatum is the highest-rated offensive lineman in the class right now. Tatum, a Fort Pierce native, is listed as the No. 10 interior lineman and No. 174 player in the class.

Tatum, a four-star prospect, committed to UM in April. He is listed at 6-foot-3.5 and 317 pounds, and he is a Navy All-American.
