Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton became the first Georgia player to finish in the top-10 of the Heisman Trophy voting since quarterback Stetson Bennett in 2022. Stockton finished seventh in the Heisman voting.
Stockton impressed in his first year as the starter at Georgia. He helped the Dawgs win a second consecutive SEC championship and punched a ticket to the College Football Playoff. Stockton completed 70.7% of his passes for 2,691 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns and just five interceptions in 2025. He added 442 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns.
Stockton and Georgia will play the winner of the Ole Miss-Tulane game in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. Stockton could have another duel with Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who also finished as among the top-10 in Heisman voting. Stockton and Georgia beat Ole Miss 43-35 back in October.
Despite his impressive season, Stockton did not finish as a Heisman finalist. Stockton had just four total touchdowns and one interception against Charlotte, Marshall and Austin Peay combined and we think that hurt his Heisman case along with his 70-yard passing performance against Georgia Tech.
The four Heisman finalists are Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin and Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia.
