The Wisconsin Badgers had a quick start to the 2027 class with a number of in-state commitments, landing seven of the top nine recruits in the state, and they continued that magic into official visits this month.
Heading into the summer with 13 commits, Wisconsin picked up nine commitments in nine days during a very successful couple of weekends of official visits, putting them at 22 commits and with a top-20 class in the country.
The Badgers have filled many of the needs in the class. They targeted three-star legacy quarterback Jack Sorgi to be the signal-caller of the class, landing his commitment in April. They chose to go with a one-back class, targeting four-star Kingston Allen, who was the No. 1 player in the state of Wisconsin.
At wide receiver, the Badgers landed four-star Jai Jones and three-star Steele Harris after official visits, and they’re still in the running for four-star Louisville commit Chuck Alexander. At tight, Korz Loken, a four-star recruit and the No. 3 player in the state, was the answer.
Wisconsin’s offensive line class was a big one under first-year coach Eric Mateos, with the Badgers landing five in-state offensive linemen: Cole Reiter, Hunter Mallinger, Reece Mallinger, Ethan McIntosh, and Jack Tabbert.
On the defensive side, Wisconsin got a couple of spring commitments from Will Zaccagnino and David Hill after missing out on some of their earlier targets. They followed that up with a commitment from edge Yahzeen Zion, who was being targeted by several SEC schools before pledging to the Badgers. On the edge, Matt Mitchell closed out on Darin Graham, a high three-star edge from Chicago, to pair with in-state three-star Isaac Miller.
At linebacker, the Badgers had a pair of late commitments, initially landing three-star, in-state product Keaton Wollan in mid-May before closing the class with three-star Nathan Jones after an official visit.
In the secondary, the Badgers went big. At cornerback, Wisconsin got its best corner commit in 26 years with four-star Mekhi Williams, while also nabbing three-star California native Royalton Allen. At safety, the Badgers went with a trio of commitments, landing three-stars James Roberson, DJ Davis, and Dustin Roach.
That leaves us with 22 commitments, and Wisconsin could still look to do some work in the Fall ahead of National Signing Day.
